Covid-19:
In the current environment we are all living in, we have implemented some very strict protocols for our Child Care. We will be doing daily temperature checks, before anyone enters the home. Masks are required to be worn by all adults at all times. We will be washing hands, sanitizing and disinfecting toys, surfaces, dishes, restrooms and all floors every day. We are also asking that if you choose to take part in large group events or travel outside of Lane County you make us aware of this and plan to have your child home for at least 14 days. This is to ensure we don't take any chances of spreading the virus to any of our other children or our families. We know this is could be a great inconvenience but we are dedicated to keeping your children and all of the other children in our care safe and healthy. Thank you for compliance and understanding of these rules.
Child Care Beliefs:
Family child care in a “home like” setting is the best alternative there is for working parents. It provides a small secure environment for children during the most important time of their development. Family child care offers a home away from home, providing children with “siblings” of all ages to play, socialize and learn from. My goal in providing quality child care for your child is to provide…
-
A safe nurturing environment.
-
A learning environment… learning is not necessarily the ABC’s and 123’s, but is also the learning of values. The learning of honesty, respect, self–reliance and potential, self-discipline and moderation. The values of being; dependable, loving, sensitive to others, kindness, friendliness and fairness are the values of giving.
-
Our approach to behavior management… Since children occasionally act out and need guidance on correcting that behavior, it is important that you and I share a similar philosophy so that your child is not too confused as to where the boundaries are and what is expected of them. Children are taught which behaviors are inappropriate and why, and given alternatives that are acceptable. In this way, the behavior is being changed, without making the child feel “bad” or unloved. This helps develop their self-esteem, and teaches them how to handle difficult situations themselves in the future. We will always take age and development in to consideration when dealing with behavior issues. I will express my disapproval (without attacking character). I clearly state my expectations and show your child how to make amends. I give choices and in extreme situations a child may be given a “time out”; because at times a child may be having trouble making choices of their own and they just may need a couple of minutes to calm down and think about their choices.

To show unconditional love… this kind of love is very important to me because children should not grow up feeling that in order to be loved and cared for they must meet numerous conditions.
A day at 2 Granny's
As we stated in our Beliefs, we strive to make this a fun, safe, environment for kids. We believe that children learn best while having fun. Play is always the best teacher. So, with that in mind we will have some structure to our days.
We will start our day out with a healthy breakfast. Always served at 8 Am. It is the most important meal of the day!
Free play time will be filled with learning toys, art, music and fun!
We have a covered outdoor play area for days that the weather tries to keep us in.
We have a healthy snack break at 10:00
Lunch will be served every day at 12:00. We will be preparing the meals in house and using fresh and healthy foods, while keeping kids tastes in mind. We also follow USDA food handling rules and Nutritional guidelines.
After lunch we will have a reading time to relax and learn.
After reading we will have a quiet time. Children of a napping age will have a safe and quiet area to sleep. Older children will be encouraged to rest, read, or listen to quiet music.
An afternoon snack will be served at 2:30.
In the afternoons we will be doing a structured activity every day. Art, Music, Science and other learning activities.
We will have free play for a while in the afternoon.
If your child is with us for Dinner we will be preparing and serving that around 5:00.
Throughout the day we will be adding in hygiene. Washing and sanitizing hands often. We will also brush teeth after every meal.
A fun and productive day will had by all!!!
